Metro service commences between St. Thomas Mount and Koyambedu

The metro rail service between Chennai Koyambedu and Alandur had begun last year. This encompasses Koyambedu, CMBT bus terminus, Vadapalani, Ashok Nagar, Ekkattuthangal, and Alandur. Following this, in the second phase of launch of metro service, Chinnamalai to Chennai Airport was covered. This line of metro service runs both in underground as well as elevated routes.
 
Now, as the next phase of metro launch, the St. Thomas Mount railway station and Alandur have got linked this morning. The St. Thomas Mount metro railway station got inaugurated this morning and the services began at 6 am. The train ticket charge between Alandur and Koyambedu is Rs 40. With this launch, one can directly commute between St. Thomas Mount and Koyambedu. It is now not necessary to board at Alandur to reach Koyambedu.
 
This has excited all commuters traveling from St. Thomas Mount. This extension of metro service is launched aiming at connecting electric train service and metro train. People from Adambakkam, Madipakkam, Kilkatalai, Velachery and other areas around will get benefitted out of this service. At the same time, commuters hailing from Dhindivanam, Chengalpet, etc will also get benefitted as they can travel to Koyambedu by boarding train at St. Thomas Mount.
