1.23 Lakhs smart cards sold for travel in Chennai Metro underground

So far, 1.23 Lakh smart cards have been sold for travel in the underground section of the Chennai Metro Rail between Thirumangalam and Nehru Park.
The Chennai Metro Rail has also launched card tickets for the tourists and students.
In a related press release, the Chennai Metro has informed that the services in the underground section between Thirumangalam and Nehru Park commenced on 14th May.
Since the inauguration, 282621 passengers have travelled in this section. 123817 smart cards have been sold.
The fare for travel between Nehru Park and St. Thomas Mount is Rs. 45. The fare for travel between Nehru Park and the Airport is Rs. 54.
If the school students travel as a group, group tickets have been launched. This will be sold at 10 percent discount.
The smart card costs Rs. 150. A passenger can travel any number of times using this card. However, this smart card has to be used within 30 days of purchase.
