NOC for Maduravoyal elevated corridor project

The elevated corridor project between Chennai Port and Maduravoyal running at 19-km stretch is likely to get revamped, as the state government is giving No objection for National Highways Authority of India’s proposal.
 
The recommendations by the technical committee and NHAI’s request are accepted, and there is no objection for the amended agreement, reads a letter by the Tamil Nadu government to the NHAI.
 
This committee comprises of State Public Works Department, NHAI officials and Highways Department. It studied 4 proposals of which one was forwarded to the NHAI, and it had in turn sent the proposal to state government.
 
This feasibility study will take place for 2 to 3 months. Call for tenders will be sent after detailed project report and land acquisition. In the Koyambedu junction, there will be an elevated stretch on the corridor, and there will be land after passing through the metro station.
 
Single pillars
Single pillars are used instead of the two pillar design. The edge of Cooum is marked by PWD, said a senior NHAI official. Near the Chennai airport will be the take-off. This will be near the War Memorial for safeguarding the Napier Bridge.
