Underground CMRL stations to get ready by year end

Chennai Metro Rail services along the underground stretches running between Nehru Park and Chennai Central, and Saidapet and AG-DMS are likely be functional by year end.

When former gets opened for usage, public can easily commute between Chennai Central and airport with a direct train.
 
Minister orders completion by year end:
On reviewing the works carried out by the Chennai Metro Rail, M.C. Sampath, the Minister of Industries has instructed to get these two stretches functional by year end.
 
CMRL official states that the minister has requested speedy completion of work, and want it wrapped up on a priority basis. The connection between Egmore and Chennai Central should be completed as early as possible, as it will largely benefit the commuters.
 
The first 8km of Thirumangalam to Nehru park underground stretch is extended with Nehru Park to Chennai central extension.
 
Works have just begun:
However, the feasibility of this is still not clear because works to lay tracks in this stretch which is of 3km has just begun.
 
On completing the track work, electrification and signaling works should be done. Following this, trial runs shall be carried out for about a few weeks ahead of starting operations. At the same time, simultaneously, works to construct stations in all the locations of the stretch shall be done.
