Vegetable prices - reducing trend in Koyambedu

Tamil Nadu has recorded a rainfall of 24 cm from 1st June to 9th September. This is 48% above the average expected rainfall in this period.
This copious rain has led to the extra harvest of vegetable with better yields facilitating more quantity of vegetables reaching the Chennai Koyambedu whole sale vegetable market.
Ladys finger (okra or bindi), which was sold at Rs. 20 per kg last week, is now sold at Rs. 7 per kg. Beans, which was sold at Rs. 50 per kg, is now sold at Rs. 15. Broad beans, which was sold at Rs. 25, is now sold at Rs. 12 per kg. Carrot, which was sold at Rs. 30, is now sold at Rs. 17 per kg. Green chili, which was sold at Rs. 25, is now sold at Rs. 15 per kg. Snake gourd, which was sold at Rs. 15, is now sold at Rs. 10 per kg.
Further, the prices of other vegetables in todays market per kg in Rupees: Tomato 25, onion 26, small (sambar) onion 90, brinjal (eggplant) 25, Potato 14, spinach 18, bitter gourd Rs. 15, cabbage Rs. 9, beetroot 20, and drumstick 28.
