How to re-submit a wrongly filed Income Tax Filing?

Income Tax return filing requires exact figures and calculus in terms of income and overall exemption details. The details regarding the ITR needs to be clarified in an upmost precision to avoid unnecessary confusions.

This rectification of mistakes will enable the tax payers to easily avoid human errors in the overall ITR to avoid scrutiny or penalty under Section 277 of the IT Act.

Section 139(5) of the I-T ACT allows this kind of revision and re-submission of Income Tax documents within the deadline for filing of AY.

The below steps are the basic details to file revised ITR.
  • https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. Open this official IT website and login to your account.
  • Choose the relevant AY and download the form for filing the reports.
  • From the drop down menu select the originally filed excel documents.
  • The page will direct you to submit the ITR acknowledgment number with the previous date of submission of the original records and download the revised form.
  • Make the necessary changes in your working sheet of the revised form.
  • After changes are done click on to compute tax to generate the XML file.
  • Upload the revised document.
  • Using Aadhar identification or through OTP download the revised ITR and verify it online or you can physically send the copy to CPC Bangalore for verification.
