Seas will be stormy today - Warning by Marine Centre

The National Marine Centre has warned that the seas and the coastal areas in Tamil Nadu will be stormy till midnight (Thursday, 26th April).

Scorching summer is prevailing throughout the country. Heat waves have formed in the central states, central eastern states and central western states in the country.

As regards the southern states, scorching heat prevails in Telangana, Andhra, and eastern Karnataka.

In Tamil Nadu, summer has been more severe in the districts of Trichy, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Karur, Tiruneveli, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Vellore, Thiruvallur, Salem, and Kanchipuram with higher temperatures as compared to the other districts.

Especially, in Trichy and its neighbouring districts, a high temperature of 41Degrees Celsius has been recorded.

As by the 8.30 AM record yesterday morning (25th April), in the last 24 hours, a maximum temperature of 41.5 Degrees Celsius has been recorded in Karur district. Trichy recorded 41 Degrees Celsius.

In Trichy and the neighbouring districts, and the Chennai airport area, a temperature of  27.8 Degree Celsius was recorded.

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that most part of Tamil Nadu will have a dry weather and in some places, cyclonic winds may blow. Due to the thermal convection, there are prospects of mild rain in a few places.

Warning:

In this situation, the Indian Marine Centre has released a fore-warning. In the Tamil Nadu coastal areas,  giant waves of 1.5 metre to 2.5 metres higher than the normal height may occur.

Higher waves will appear in the southern district coastal areas from Kulachal to Keezhakkarai. So, the fishermen must take caution and not venture into the coast or the sea.
