Chennai Metro Rail Limited CMRL is in the final stages of launching the mobile application exclusively for electrical and electronical maintenance updates reported to the commuters on daily basis. This Mobile App and digital communication will enable the centralized focus of ten underground metro stations updating the periodic repair works and maintenance operations to general public.
Anna Salai Metro station will have the initial trial phase verification of this mobile application and CMRL inviting tenders to acquire the project of centralizing the maintenance department into common digital platform and updating it for the commuters.
The main two considerations of the Mobile App are fixing the faulty elements concerned with electrical and electronical applications of the Metro Station and the reports about the daily operations in the Metro line zones directly to the Commuters linked with CMRL Officials.
Maintenance work in the underground tunnels and the mechanical work involved in the process will be recorded in the designed app and then publicized for the Commuters. This type of centralized model is planned from Washermenpet to Saidapet and the associated links of metro tunnels.
This model is very similar to the Indian Railways Maintenance technology updated through QR code of the compartment. This QR generation will upload all the information in media files reporting the log of work done for cleaning the coaches and the pipe lines feeding water for the toilet. One of the CMRL Official said that the Mobile App will be linked with GPS enables a quick tracking of location with issues and repair works. The Official also added that maintaining such e-manual through digital platform will largely help in asset management as it will reduce the overall cost in managing the repair and maintenance filing manually.
There will be a separate team to verify the updates of the App and to resolve the issues located on a particular area of the metro line with a two way process of communication between CMRL and the Commuters.
Tunnel Ventilation System, Air-Conditioning System, Lifts, Escalators, Mechanical operations of the train and Electrical and plumbing system are some of the closed components of the Metro lines that needs periodic service, repair and preventive security measurements. These details will be updated in the App and the Centralized database of these components will be managed by the CMRL department of Maintenance and Repair.
The Staff attending the particular issue will log on to the app and scan the QR code for entering the details of the particular concern. Then the staff will receive a check list for maintaining the particular breakdown or preventive care for the betterment of the Metro Train operations. The Station Master can call for the staff through mobile app in case any immediate requirement or urgency in sorting out a problematic hardware of the rail links.
The media files like pictures, Videos and other documents of the particular case of maintenance will be done by the Staff through the dedicated mobile app. The before and after pictures of the repaired systems will be uploaded in the App for the Commuters to make sure the safety of the journey.
Station Name, Manufacture name and details, Station location, Month and Year of Installation, Model Number, OEM, Contact Numbers, e-mail addresses and the Warranty details will be uploaded in the App for the usage and retrieving of the information.
A common Cloud server will store all the data of the mobile app where the total history of each servicing and maintenance records can be collected and verified. CMRL Officials can monitor and resolve the raised issues from a remote location with the help of a Computer. The to-and-fro communication regarding the updates of the maintenance can be done simply through SMS and e-mail receiving reports from various departments.
