This 60 minutes metro rail journey from Chennai Central to airport would cost Rs 70

We already know that starting from Friday, 25th May 2018 the public would be able to travel from Chennai Central to airport directly by metro train.

Now the latest news is this travel between Chennai Central and airport by metro train would cost an amount of Rs 70 and it would be of 60 minutes duration. On Friday, as many as 6 stations on the 2 key underground lines between Nehru Park and Central Metro and from Little Mount to AG-DMS would be opened. It should have been opened two years back itself but was delayed due to some reasons.

People would be able to travel by this direct service and this service would function across two corridors to connect Central Metro and airport. It is important to note that the stretch present between May Day Park and AG-DMS is not yet completed and when ready it would link the airport through a single corridor.

A regular commuter spoke about how direct metro service between Central to airport would take roundabout route. He further spoke about how this journey would be cheap and would take less time when compared to a cab or an autorickshaw.

Passengers coming out of suburban and MRTS stations plus Chennai Central railway station would be benefited as the Central Metro would link these passengers with the CMBT and airport. Passengers arriving at the Chennai Egmore railway station by long distance trains could pay Rs 60 for the trip between Egmore Metro and airport in this metro train. Rs 40 would be collected as fares between Egmore to CMBT in metro.
