Chennai Metro Rail will shortly set up the provision of 1 more entry and 1 more exit routes at the Central Metro Rail Station.
The new entry/exit arrangement will connect the ticket issue centre level to the Park Station subway. This will facilitate the passengers to reach the opposite side of the station neat the Moore Market Complex.
Presently only one entrance and one exit is available at the Central Metro station. With the station being huge and covering a large area, several complaints have been received that this one entry-one exit arrangement is not sufficient.
The Chennai Metro officials explained the installation work of escalators is nearly complete. An official explained: This means a passenger who wants to enter the station from the Moore Market Complex can use this subway and enter the concourse level, or a passenger exiting the station can leave the concourse level and reach the Moore Market Complex.
Actually, 4 more entry/exit points are planned. However, it will take several months when they are ready for public use only after the number of commuters is sufficiently high.
