Latest update from Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) mentioned about the introduction of three coach and six coach trains on Phase 2 project of Chennai Metro. Currently the four coach trains are only used for the metro project Phase 1 operations that covers 45 km in the city. Now the need to launch more trains with different categories of space has arrived.
The main reason for the adapting such three coach trains is the low passenger expectation for a considerable amount of time. So these kind of trains are efficient for carrying commuter and also in terms of financial equalization.
Later when all the stretches goes on a full swing in the stretches of Phase 2 six coach trains will be introduced to bring the high demand end meet. Several underground stretches are opened recently for the public use and CMRL plans for a quick completion of entire metro project after installing solar power implementations and flood resistive measurements in some of the stations. Once the lines are connected all through the citys project the full operation of six coach trains will be started said one of the officials of CMRL.
