Cyclone Gaja even after crossing the land is still a severe Cyclone and is now right over Pudukottai a rare event indeed. Enitre town is getting cyclonic winds gusting to 100 km/hr. Nagai, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur and Karaikkal all have witnessed Cyclonic winds.

Gaja crossed between Nagapattinam and Vedaranniyam with wind speed of 110-120 kmph around mid-night to early morning. The top sustained wind speeds from Gaja recorded are
- Atirampattinam - 111 km/hr (0230 IST)
- Nagapattinam - 100 km/hr (0230 IST)
- Karaikal - 92 km/hr (0130 IST)
Almost the wind comparison is equal with Vardah
- Meenambakkam - 122 km/hr,
- Nungambakkam - 114 km/hr
- Ennore - 89 km/hr

Pudukottai, Parts of Northern Sivaganga, Parts of Southern Trichy, Parts of Southern Karur, Dindigul, parts of Northern Madurai district and Parts of Theni all see cyclonic winds. Its going to be a rare event in these places seeing cyclonic gusts.
