No Internal Marks for private candidates writing +1 Public Exams

Posted on: 30/Nov/2018 1:24:56 PM
The state government examination board has announced that there would be no ‘internal marks’ awarded for the private candidates writing the +1 Public Examinations.

As per the Tamil Nadu state education plan, the public examination was introduced for the students of  +1 from the year 2017. It was also announced in the initial stages that marks obtained both in +1 and +2 public examinations will be combined and considered. However, this proposal was changed subsequently and withdrawn stating that only a pass in +1 pubic examination is sufficient.

In a similar trend, it was declared mandatory for the private candidates interested in writing the Public Examinations without attending school classes to write the +1 Public Examinations as well. The rules and regulations regarding this have been released by the State Examination Board. Accordingly, the private candidates writing +1 public examination can write examinations only on subjects without practicals.

The private candidates must be above the age of 15 years and 6 months. There are no ‘internal marks` for these private candidates. For them, the marks obtained in the written examination for a total of 89, will be calculated as for 100 marks. Even if these private candidates fail in the +1 public examinations, they will still be permitted to write the +2 public examinations as well! However, the failed candidates will have to rewrite and pass in the failed subjects.  Till then, only mark sheets will be given and no certificates will be given.

The above rules and regulations can be accessed on the website - http://www.dge.tn.gov.in.
