People of Tamil Nadu have been recovering from the Cyclone Gaja that had destroyed many parts in the state of Tamil Nadu. The news that has come out now is on Monday, 3rd December 2018, school education minister, Mr. K.A. Sengottaiyan, indicated that the half yearly examinations in the government schools belonging to cyclone Gaja affected districts of TN might be postponed.

The government is still considering the possibility of postponing the half yearly examinations though the school education department was of the opinion that postponing the examinations in the cyclone Gaja affected districts of TN would have difficulties. It is known that the school education minister Mr. Sengottaiyan was in Gobichettipalayam near Erode in TN to distribute free bicycles to the children of various higher secondary schools. The minister spoke about the postponement of half yearly examinations on the sidelines of the above mentioned bicycle distribution function.

The school education minister later spoke about the new syllabi for history text books and revealed about the complaints regarding the achievements of erstwhile British rulers finding larger space in these books.  The point is the history of all national leaders and the sacrifices these leaders made during freedom struggle have been well covered in the books. He also asserted that the government would take necessary steps if any national leader and his sacrifices made have been left out.

It is shocking to mention that defective bicycles were distributed to the students at a government function near Tindivanam. The school education minister Mr. Sengottaiyan assured that the government would take necessary action to remedy the situation.
