Passengers could soon be benefitted by the presence of food, retail outlets etc at the Chennai airport metro station. For creating commercial space at the Chennai airport metro station, AAI or Airport Authority of India officials would work with the CMRL or Chennai Metro Rail Limited. This was confirmed by the officials of AAI. It is now said that the passengers travelling out of Chennai airport or Chennai metro station on its premises would soon get a host of recreational facilities.

The ground floor of the metro station would have the facility for the sake of passengers and passengers using the metro station and those coming out of the station would be able to get benefitted by this commercial facility. It is important that the passengers need some space for sitting and relaxing and for that purpose a lounge or room would be making its presence felt and the passengers could pay and use the lounge. This was later confirmed by an official. The work on providing the commercial space for the passengers would begin soon and both the organisations would split up the revenue from this venture. It must be noted that the airport metro station has got 2 levels of parking, a concourse and a platform. The airport metro station is spread over an area of 17,300 sq kms is known.

The amazing piece of news is out of 26 metro stations that are currently used airport metro station is the busiest and about 5000 people use this station at the airport every day. This high footfall in this airport metro station is one main reason why such facility was planned as many people would be using the facility. One important point here is there are many food joints inside the airport terminals and the food and retail outlets inside a metro station are likely to be cheap and easily affordable. In the past Chennai metro made huge noises when it installed food stalls at the stations on the stretch between Koyambedu and Alandur. This initiative was later expanded to other stretches like Little Mount to Chennai airport etc. It is brought out that not all the Chennai metro stations have stalls for the passengers.
