The year 2018 happened to be a landmark year for the Chennai Metro Rail with exceptional achievements. In a continuing trend, it will be an extremely significant 2019 as well, especially for the citizens of North Chennai.
During 2018, the 2 corridors – Chennai Central-St, Thomas Mount (Green corridor) and AG-DMS – Chennai Airport (Blue corridor) of the Chennai Metro Rail became operative.
Now, the time has arrived for the North Chennai Region in the Chennai Metro Rail Service! Yes! It has been planned to operate Metro Rail services between Chennai Central-Washermanpet and Chennai Central-AG-DMS before the end of January.
Test-runs are to be undertaken in the above sections during the next week. An invitation has been extended to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate this event. It is expected that the inaugural function may be slated on 10th or 11th January.
Especially the North Chennai Citizens will get a huge relief as they have only experienced the rather narrow roads and heavy traffic congestion! They will find it a rather delightful experience with the extra comfort in quicker travel!
There is no doubt at all that commencement of the Chennai Metro Rail in North Chennai would be the endpoint of all hardships on the movement front for such a long period until now!
