The information gathered is from Saturday the inspection of last stretch of Chennai Metro phase-1 project would begin and it would be inspected by the CMRS or Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety for a period of 3 days. The important point is between 27th of January to 30th of January the final stretch between AGDMS and Washermanpet would be opened for the public. This was as per the sources. Exact date for inauguration is not decided still but the inauguration would take place at the highly popular Chennai Central metro station.
It is now revealed that the arrangements are going on for the inauguration ceremony and the ministry for urban development has been invited for this ceremony. The sources pointed out that till now they are waiting for the ministry of urban development to get back to them and the date would be fixed later. On Saturday, inspection of Washermanpet, Mannadi, High Court and Chennai Central metro stations would be carried out and on Sunday inspection of government estate, Thousand Lights metro stations would be carried out. The information collected was CMRS would be inspecting everything from the facilities in the tunnels to the stations.
It is brought out that the telecom equipment, communication equipment rooms, station control rooms plus others like passenger emergency telephones,, passenger information display systems etc would also be inspected by the CMRS. The point to be noted here is Chennai Metro had submitted many documents few week before the inspection and CMRS would scrutinise those documents again on Monday.
