Central Station to turn white form its typical Red

For once in 2 years, the Chennai Central railway station is transformed from its typical red shade to a white color. And this shall remain white for a few days following which the same charismatic red coat will be given. Now, it is time for a facelift as the Central Railway Station is getting all painted with a new coating.

Officials from the Chennai division of Southern Railway has instructed to Central and Moore Market Complex to get properly maintained as either of them are city’s landmarks and rich heritage structures. Hence, regularly, in a frequency of once in 2-3 years, there is a protective work being done where the old paint gets removed and gets chemically treated followed by white washing and final coat of paint which is in its typical red, officials say.

To give it an extra tinge of colors, the southern railway has decided to make mural painting inside the railway station. In fact, the concourse at the central station is a key attraction here. The mural paintings done by local artists here are impressive and holds attention
