TN governments health insurance scheme is bringing happiness to many people

The superb piece of information is Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health insurance Scheme or CMCHIS has made significant positive impact on the public health scenario of Tamil Nadu. In terms of number of people covered by the health insurance, this health insurance scheme has pushed TN to the 4th place now. This has caught the attention of many now. According to the National Family Health Survey Data of 2015-16 it is clear that there is an amazing 16 times increase in the coverage.
A worker in a tea stall explained about this health scheme of TN and said it was because of this superb health scheme that he paid very less money of Rs 9000 instead of Rs 1.09 lakhs for his heart procedure in a private hospital. His wife spoke about how without the help of this health scheme she and her husband would have found their lives very tough.
A public health expert, Dr. Rakhal Gaitonde, spoke about how despite few shortcomings the state of TN has done well. He then explained about the launch of this health insurance scheme and said the main purpose was to reduce the waiting time for surgery plus tertiary care at public hospitals.
Dr. Rakhal Gaitonde later spoke about how the treatment in the private hospitals with insurance coverage has reduced the waiting time period. He finally threw light on the government’s effort to make significant changes in this health insurance scheme to help many poor people in TN.
There are better ways of improving the access to the healthcare. As per Dr. Rakhal, if the amount spent on the insurance scheme that is nearly RS 1000 crores gets distributed among district hospitals then each hospital would get Rs 25 crore. This amount of Rs 25 crores would be sufficient to boost the infrastructure and for hiring resources.
