Public examinations for classes 5 and 8 now in TN

From this academic year, the government of Tamil Nadu is preparing to hold public examinations for classes like 5 and 8. This news has caught the attention of many now. The third term for the above mentioned classes would be converted as public examination and this has been confirmed by the officials belonging to the school education department. It must be taken into account that the public examination for these classes would be of 2 hours.

It is well known that preparing the question papers for an examination is not an easy task. The point is DGE or directorate of government examinations has been tasked with preparing the question papers. The class 5 students would have worksheets and class 8 would have descriptive question paper.  It was pointed out by the sources that there would be pictorials and simple calculations in the worksheets of the class 5 students.

The students would be tested for their comprehensive skills by some simple and creative questions. It must be noted that the students would be asked to write simple sentences and fill up the blanks for the language papers. As per the sources, the question paper for class 8 would be descriptive and it would test the understanding and writing skills of the student.

The school education department officials revealed that the examination would have questions for about 50 marks and the total marks would be converted to 100 marks. The finalization of marks has not been done till now. To identify the examination centres, the school education department has asked the district education officials.

It was pointed out by a district education official that both government as well as government aided schools having not less than 20 students would be provided with the examination centres. The point is details like number of students studying in classes 5 and 8 in each and every school are important and these details would be collected by district education officials. Within 3 kms distance examination centres would be set up and this was confirmed by an official. The information gathered is there would not be any pass or fail in the current public examinations.
