Residents of Chennai would have been familiar with Madhya Kailash junction. This is one of the busiest junctions in Adyar and half a million vehicles pass through this important junction every day. In this Madhya Kailash junction that is poorly manned traffic police of Chennai, many traffic violations takes place creating issues.

The important point is in the early 2000’s IT corridor was formed connecting Madhya Kailash and OMR. At that time, the Tamil Nadu Road Development Corporation or TNRDSC suggested the state highways department to come up with the trumpet shaped flyover to ease the traffic snarl. This was rejected by the state government is known. There were some fears regarding the difficulty in the land acquisition and the government did not give its approval on this project.

The information gathered is for easing the traffic congestions in this place engineers belonging to IITM, Anna University and state highways department gave 3 separate project proposals. For almost a decade now these three project proposals have been pending before the state government.

According to police it is clear that during the peak hours of time motorists, cyclists violate the traffic rules and the traffic police do not give much importance to these. Every month at this Madhya Kailash junction atleast 15 non-fatal accidents get reported. It is revealed that the traffic police instead of stopping the traffic rules violators have become mere spectators.

A software engineer expressed his thoughts. He spoke about how he was about to crash against a biker who crisscrossed. He added that passing the traffic signal was risky and how recently it turned chaotic. As per a senior traffic official it was brought out that the traffic personnel have stopped and fined few of the traffic violators. He further threw light on how in the morning peak hours of time atleast 4 of the traffic police personnel would be manning the junctions at multiple shifts and how the motorists who violate the traffic rules would be caught. The senior traffic official finally explained that the department is in the process of identifying and imposing fine amount on the traffic rules violators.
