In TN, there would not be board examinations for the classes 5 and 8 this year

Just recently the school education minister, Mr. K.A. Sengottaiyan had announced that there would be board examinations for the students of classes 5 and 8 in TN. This made many angry and the proposal was met with strong negative reaction from the students, parents as well from the teachers. The latest news that has now come out is the students studying in the classes 5 and 8 would not have to face the board examinations in this year.
The school education minister from Erode district expressed his thoughts about the board examinations for classes 5 and 8 and said there was no government order in this regard and the circulars sent by the District Educational Officers or DEO’s were just preparatory measures.
He further explained about how issuing order is the responsibility of the government and how the education department responsibility was to prepare to implement the order. The state cabinet would play an important role here and the orders issued by the government must be cleared by the state cabinet. The school education minister then threw light on how the government of TN would consider the concerns of both students as well as their parents. On Wednesday, 20th February 2019, evening some schools received circulars and it created huge confusion in the schools.
The point to be noted here is SCERT books were distributed to the students of the classes 5 and 8 belonging to a private school in Chennai city using other textbooks. It is said that the questions for the proposed board examinations were expected from the syllabus belonging to the state board.
There were also lots of confusions among the teachers regarding board examinations for classes 5 and 8. The piece of information collected is certain members of the teaching faculty were worried that the government might conduct board examinations this year.
As per the general secretary of private schools association, Mr. Nandhakumar, the time is not correct to hold board examinations for classes 5 and 8 now. He was happy that the students won’t face board examinations in this year. Mr. Illamaran, state president of TN Teachers Association, also expressed his views on this.
