More signages to be installed at the metro stations by CMRL

The news that CMRL is planning to install more signages to attract more commuters plus to guide them to the nearest metro station has been the subject for discussion for many now. The important information collected is CMRL would be identifying the locations or spots where the signages would be installed after surveying the locations.

An official belonging to CMRL expressed his views. He spoke about how the signage would be fixed about 500 m around the metro stations in Chennai. These signages would give directions about the nearest metro station. It must be noted that this information about the direction of the nearest metro station would be of great help for those people who are new to Chennai and those who want to use public transport.

There are signages present in metro stations in places like Koyambedu, Arumbakkam and Ashok Nagar but they are not well placed or clearly visible from a distance. The official assured that the new signages would be different from the existing signages.

CMRL is having plans to put signages in all the 32 metro stations in Chennai in the 45 km network of phase-1 project. Information collected is new signages would be more prominent and it would be kept in such a way that any commuter would be able to notice it well. The survey for the locations for keeping these signages has been given high importance now. Just fixing the signages would not be of great use and this was later confirmed by an official.

In the underground network, CMRL has been putting up additional signages inside the metro stations is known. Information gathered is in the Government Estate metro station CMRL has already installed signage. It was revealed by the official that in the newly opened metro stations along the Anna Salai plus in 19 other underground metro stations too CMRL is taking steps to install signages.
