For those people residing in places like Tambaram, Chromepet, etc, here comes an amazing piece of news.

It is now revealed that the Chennai metro would soon begin work on connecting the airport with Kilambakkam. As per the sources, the construction works would begin from the year 2021.

Feasibility report for the stretch was submitted by Chennai metro and it is now said that work on DPR or Detailed Project Report would be started. It must be taken into account that time of 10 to 12 months would be taken to complete the report and after that, the project would start. The point is there is a lot of demand in this stretch. It must be noted is this stretch would be of huge benefit to many commuters who want to travel from Tambaram, Chromepet, etc to the Chennai city.

With around 13 metro stations, the airport to Kilambakkam stretch would be 15.3 km in length. The information gathered is this stretch would be built entirely on GST Road as an elevated stretch. It is brought out that elevated stretch is chosen because of the fact that it is faster to construct when compared to an underground stretch plus cheaper also.

It was later pointed out by an official belonging to CMRL that this stretch would draw more commuters to the metro train because it is close to hubs like Accenture, Vandalur Zoo, proposed Kilambakkam bus stand, etc. Important to information are lakhs of people belonging to places like Chromepet and Tambaram go to Chennai city daily for their work. People depend mostly on the feeder services to go to the airport metro station and then take the train from there to the city to reach their workplaces. The official explained how after the implementation of this facility the people would find it very convenient and would give up their vehicles.
