Superstar Rajini receives Lifetime Achievement Award Goa Film Festival!

The award of ‘Icon of the Golden Jubilee’ (Lifetime Achievement Award) was conferred on the legendary and immensely popular actor superstar Rajinikanth at the recently held Goa International Film Festival.
The 50th (Golden Jubilee) international film festival commenced at Goa yesterday (Wednesday, 20th November) on behalf of the Central Government Department of the film industry. The 9-day international film festival will conclude on 28th November.
The Golden Jubilee international; film festival was inaugurated with the central minister Prakash Javadekar and actors Amitabh Bachan and Rajinikanth lighting lamps.
After the inauguration, the central minister and Prakash Javadekar and the legendary actor Amitabh Bachan together gave of the ‘Icon of the Golden Jubilee’ Award to the superstar Rajinikanth, a prestigious ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award.
On receiving the award, Rajini addressed the gathering that he dedicates this award to all who had performed with him and his fans. He expressed his gratitude to the central government for the award. Though he addressed the gathering in English, superstar Rajinikanth suddenly switched over to Tamil, he told ‘Yennai Vaazhavaitha Tamizh deivangalae! Nandri!’ (My immense gratitude to my Tamil fans who had brought me to this level!)
Awards are being conferred in this international film festival for the actors and actresses and the film industry technicians who have made a valuable contribution to the Indian Film Industry.
200 films made in 76 countries are being screened during this 50th International Film Festival. 26 Indian films will also be screened. The Tamil movies ‘Otha seruppu’ (by director/producer Parthiban) and `House-owner’ (directed by Lakshmi Ramakrishnan) will be screened during this festival.
