Supplementary voters list to be sent to respective district collectors today!

The Tamil Nadu State Chief Election Officer Satyaprada Sahu, in a session with the press, informed:
As the process of scrutiny/verification of the voters’ details was in progress, the task of adding names to the voters’ list had been stopped. This is the list that would be used during the local elections. So, this list has now been handed over to the State Election Commission. Usually, the opportunity will be provided for including new names just 10 days before the filing of nominations. Accordingly, applications have been received from those who applied until 6th December.
The activity of checking and including the new names in the voters’ list was in progress until now. It has been completed.
Subsequently, the final draft qualified voters’ list including the supplementary list of the added names will be sent to the respective district collectors today (Tuesday, 17th December).
Those who had added their names in the recent operations can visit the website and check their names online.
The 25th of January every year is celebrated as ‘National Voters’ Day’, As such, ‘Awareness Program’ is scheduled to be conducted on the topic of ‘Election Awareness - Strong Democracy’.
Competitions will be held during this period such as elocution, poem, painting/art, drawing rangoli/kola. The winners in these competitions will be given prizes in the function conducted on 25th January.
Special programmes will be conducted on this day at all the polling booths. Voter ID will be given to the new voters and an oath-taking ceremony - ‘We will definitely vote in the election - We will not take any money’ will be performed.
