Multilevel 2 wheeler parking at the Meenambakkam metro station

Multilevel two-wheeler parking would be introduced by CMRL at the Meenambakkam metro station for the sake of the commuters.
As a pilot project, the CMRL has installed a 2 wheeler parking facility here that could hold about 20 motorcycles. This was mentioned by some officials of CMRL.
Testing of the facility is going on now and it is revealed that during the testing process checking whether the facility could safely hold vehicles or not would also be done. Wind speed would be studied to find out whether the vehicles stand or fall down. Point is once the testing is completed then issues would be fixed, rectified and finally opened to the people. Safety would be ascertained and then it would be implemented in other metro stations depending up n the necessity.
It must be taken into account that Meenambakkam metro station has got a daily footfall of nearly 2500 and its parking lot has got a capacity of 200 to 250 vehicles. Many people from places like Pallavaram, Chromepet etc leave their vehicles at the airport metro station to take their trains. Information collected is in the morning peak hours, the parking there fills up very fast. As a result, the commuters go to Meenambakkam, the next nearest station. It is now said that the demand has been on the rise and CMRL has decided to implement the multilevel parking space for the start.
The important information is CMRL has got plans to have a multi-level car parking at the Vadapalani metro station also in the future.
