In another 6 months, the Washermenpet to Wimco Nagar metro line would be commissioned and in North Chennai, the metro stations would have a new look with four-level shopping arenas and Spartan interiors.
For the purpose of cutting cost and for speeding up construction without compromising on the commuter comfort, changes in designs were made to the metro stations. It must be taken into account that the metro stations would be smaller and smarter but the passenger area would be the same in terms of size.
By the month of February, track and electrical traction works would be over. In June or in July, CMRL would be opening the line and 30 percent to 40 percent more passengers are expected to travel. This was confirmed by an official.

The metro stations in north Chennai have been constructed with a four-level shopping area that could be accessed by commuters as well as by the shoppers. There would not be any false ceiling in the inside of the metro stations. Black painted roofs would be holding cables plus a/c ducts in place.
