Myths about dairy

Here are a few myths that are related to dairy products – and clarifications.

Will cow’s milk make me put on weight? The answer is no. You can choose skimmed cow’s milk instead of whole milk. Cow’s milk has the necessary levels of protein and nutrients. You can substitute this with lactose free cow’s milk, soy milk or almond milk. But there is nothing like the original.

I am lactose intolerant and so cannot eat dairy. This is also untrue. Being lactose intolerant does not mean that you will be intolerant towards all dairy products. Many cheeses hardly have any lactose in them. Also, yogurt breaks down much of the lactose present in the milk.
