An appeal has been made by the Information Technology Employees working in the Tambaram-Vandalur IT Concerns emphasising the urgent need to include and complete the Metro track Airport-Kilambakkam Section during the 2nd Phase of the Chennai Metro Rail Project itself.
The appeal made by the IT employees working in the Information technology concerns located in the Tambaram-Vandalur zone:
“During the presentation of the Tamil Nadu State Government budget, it was informed that the 2nd Phase of the Chennai Metro Rail Project will be completed by 2026 and the track will also be extended to Airport-Kilambakkam New Bus Terminus.
A part of the construction of the new Kilambakkam Bus Terminus has been completed and is ready for inauguration. The full construction is scheduled to be completed by 2023. When the new bus terminus is inaugurated, the passengers coming from the southern districts of the State will need transport for moving from Kilambakkam bus terminus to their destinations.
As such, the metro Section Airport-Kilambakkam MUST be planned to be completed when the other Metro Rail 2nd Phase activities are in progress.
This inclusion will benefit a large number of citizens – the passengers from the southern districts, the employees working in these suburban located organisations! It may also facilitate a considerable reduction in the traffic on GST Road!”
