The Senior Officials of the Transport Department of the Tamil Nadu State Government informed that a new facility of 12 mini-buses will be set up for the Chennai Metro Rail passengers.

They shared regarding the above new facility proposed:

“It was recently announced in the Tamil Nadu State Government Legislative meeting that as only a fewer number of mini-buses are being operated in the Chennai Metro City, action will be initiated to operate a few more mini-buses.

Presently, there are 210 mini-buses in the Tamil Nadu State Chennai Metro City Transport Corporation. Out of these, only 66 mini-buses are being operated.

As the number of passengers was very less, which led to a considerable loss in the operation, the remaining 144 mini-buses are not being operated.

For the more beneficial operation, it has been decided to operated additional buses from various parts of the different Chennai Metro City to the Chennai Metro Stations.

In the 1st Phase of this above proposal, 12 additional mini-buses are to be introduced for operation during this month (October). With this, there would be a substantial increase in the number of Chennai Metro Rail passengers and also additional revenue for the Chennai Metro Transport Corporation.

Further, the 13 buses used for the services to suburban areas which were kept out of operation during the previous government will also be resumed!”
