Now, CMRL or Chennai Metro Rail Limited has awarded the contract of power supply works for the development of the metro phase-2 project to Linxon. This is making sensational news.
It must be noted that the recently awarded contract would be a part of metro phase-2 and it would play a huge role in increasing the ridership and reducing congestion. Information is that the Asian Development Bank or ADB would be providing funds for the project.
Mr. Rajesh Chaturvedi, director of Systems and Operations at CMRL spoke about how the entire phase-2 metro train project would get over in another 5 years. He hinted that the daily ridership in the metro trains in Chennai would touch 1.55 million in a few years.
According to the CEO of Linxon, Mr. Stefan Reisacher, the company would be happy to be a part of eco-friendly public transport in the Chennai city. He threw light about how the metro train project would further cement their market leadership position for power supply projects in the Asia Pacific region. He added that in the coming years the rail business has got tremendous potential.
It is known that the second phase of the metro train project would be of 118.9kms and is being implemented across 3 channels. In several places in Chennai, construction of tunnels, elevated routes, and constructions of metro stations has been going on. In addition to these, a contract was awarded for laying rail tracks too. In this situation, in the second phase of the metro train project, the power supply contract has been awarded to Linxon company for the development work.
It was revealed by some CMRL officers that the contract was awarded as a part of the second phase of the metro rail project. By this agreement, there would be stable power supply and distribution from transmission line to metro line.
