Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. (CMRL) has announced plans to initiate track laying on the Poonamallee-Porur stretch in just two months. This section is part of corridor 4 of the Phase II construction project, connecting Light House to Poonamallee.
The overall Phase II project, encompassing corridors 3 and 4, is estimated at ₹61,843 crore and spans 118.9 kilometers. CMRL aims to launch train services from Poonamallee to Porur by the end of 2025 and is urging the contractor to accelerate construction progress to meet this deadline. Despite some potential delays in constructing two stations along the stretch, officials remain confident that all stations will be operational by the end of 2025.
