The Chennai Metro Rail Administration has commenced the facility of purchasing Metro Rail travel tickets through WhatsApp.

Each passing day has witnessed a steady increase in the number of passengers opting for Chennai Metro Rail for their travels.

Several facilities have been introduced for the convenience of passengers, including the option to purchase tickets directly from the counter, Travel ID cards, and the facility to pay through QR Codes.

Subsequently, the option to procure tickets through WhatsApp has also been introduced.

An inaugural function was conducted at the Chennai Thirumangalam Metro Rail Station, which was attended by the Managing Directors of Chennai Metro Rail, Rajesh Chathurvethi and Arjunan.

With the introduction of this facility, passengers can now procure Chennai Metro Rail tickets through the station counters by scanning the QR Code or by using the number 8300086000 for CMRL Live Chat.

To avail this service, passengers need to first register their travel details and then pay the ticket fare through UPI. The tickets will be sent through WhatsApp, and passengers can present them at the entrance of the Metro Rail Station for scanning on the QR Code scanner before commencing their travel.

With this new facility, passengers can book or procure up to 6 tickets simultaneously.

The Chennai Metro Administration has announced a 20% concession for tickets booked through WhatsApp. It has been explained that this recent introduction will help reduce the long queues of passengers at Metro Stations for ticket purchases.
