Chennai Metro Rail witnessed a significant surge in ridership during July, recording a remarkable increase of 8,46,816 passengers compared to the previous month of June. This achievement marks the highest number of commuters utilizing the metro train service since its inception in Chennai.
The metro network, spanning 54 km and serving two routes, has become a preferred mode of transportation for its reliable and secure transit services, attracting a growing number of passengers daily.
According to the Metro Rail Administration, a total of 82,53,692 individuals opted for metro train travel in July, with the peak day witnessing a staggering 3,08,495 riders.
During this period, passengers embraced various ticketing options, including 29,10,875 using the QR code ticket system, 48,85,843 utilizing travel cards, 2,97,348 employing tokens, 5,382 passengers benefiting from the group ticket system, and 1,54,244 travelers availing themselves of the Singhara Chennai Card (National General Mobility Card).
