Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has issued a stern warning and legal notice to individuals found obstructing train doors during peak hours, emphasizing the serious safety risks and service disruptions such actions entail. According to CMRL, this behavior not only poses significant safety hazards but also constitutes a breach of established safety protocols.
Furthermore, obstructing train doors is considered a punishable offense under Section 67 of the Operations and Maintenance Act of 2002. This offense can lead to imprisonment for up to four years and a fine of up to Rs 5,000.
In response to this issue, CMRL is urging passengers who witness such incidents of door obstruction to promptly report them by contacting the customer care helpline at 1860-425-1515. CMRL`s proactive measures aim to ensure the safety and efficiency of Chennai`s metro services during peak travel hours.
