To prioritize the customers` need for link facilities, the Chennai Metro Rail Company has planned to operate 20 mini-buses from various Metro Rail Stations. The task of designing routes for these additional 20 mini-buses has already begun.
Currently, approximately 2.50 to 2.80 lakh passengers travel daily on Chennai Metro Rail services. Efforts are being made to increase the number of passengers further. One decision made in this effort is to provide link facilities for Metro Rail passengers, which includes an increase in the number of link bus services. An additional 20 mini-buses will be operated from Chennai Metro Rail Stations.
Officials of the Chennai Metro Rail have shared the following information:
"At present, mini-buses, shared-autos, and battery-operated autos are being operated from Chennai Metro Rail Stations to other important railway stations and some bus termini, providing links to residential localities.
In the next phase, it has been decided to operate an additional 20 mini-buses. The routes for these additional buses are in the final stages of preparation.
A list containing the routes and other details for the additional mini-buses to be operated will be provided to senior officials of the Chennai Metro City Transport Corporation.
Subsequently, the operation of these additional mini-buses will commence by the Chennai Metro City Transport Corporation from various Chennai Metro Rail Stations."
