Chennai Metro Rail Administration has greenlit commercial utilization of Nehru Park, Arumbakkam, and Saidapet metro stations` premises. Alongside passenger fares, the administration seeks to bolster revenue streams through alternative avenues.

With passenger numbers on the rise, vacant spaces within metro stations will be repurposed for commercial ventures. Private enterprises are keenly eyeing such opportunities, indicating substantial interest in the projects.

A two-story commercial complex, costing Rs. 38.70 crore, is slated for construction within the Saidapet Metro station premises. A private entity has already inked a 12-year contract for its development. Tender issuance and private company selection are currently underway.

The completion of this complex is projected within the next eighteen months, paving the way for additional revenue generation for the Metro Rail Corporation.
