The Chennai Metro Rail witnessed a significant rise in daily ridership in July, reaching a total of 95.35 lakh passengers, as reported by CMRL. This represents an increase of 11.01 lakh passengers from June and sets a new record for the highest monthly ridership since the inception of Metro Train services.
The highest single-day ridership in July occurred on the 12th, with 3.50 lakh passengers. Monthly ridership figures for the earlier part of the year were: 84.63 lakh in January, 86.15 lakh in February, 86.82 lakh in March, 80.87 lakh in April, 84.21 lakh in May, and 84.33 lakh in June.
In terms of ticket usage for July, 19.96 lakh passengers used the Singara Chennai card, 35.31 lakh opted for travel cards, 1.83 lakh utilized online QR codes, 2.77 lakh used static QR codes, and 22.09 lakh purchased paper QR tickets.
