In-spite of the Metro rail construction may have slowed down but the coach production is in the bursts oscillation at Alstom’s factory, on the outskirts of the Sri City.

The production work of 10th and 11th is going on at the production of Alstom. Of the 42 four-coach rake production, nine rakes will be imported from Brazil and the rest will be manufactured in the local plant in Alstom. Though the trains are made as per international standards, it will be customized for its use in Chennai," said a senior official of metro rail.

The 10th train production is completed and is undergoing the routine test under the supervision of general consultants of Metro rail. The train will get transported to the Koyambedu yard after clearance. The 11th train is nearing completion and it will soon be tested expansively.

The first five trains that have pulled in at Koyambedu depot are being tested for different functionalities like: parameter standards, functioning of various electrical and electronic systems and so on. Running tests have been conducted on a test track.

We are likely to start testing the train between Koyambedu and Ashok Nagar in 15 days, said by the official of the Metro rail.
