Further to the finance minister, P.Chidambaram’s outline the current account deficit (CAD) in the budget, the gems and jewelry industry has been continually insisting for the relaxation of gold import restrictions. During a recent interview, the minister stated that he can only look into it. During the interim budget 2014, he said that the CAD will be brought down from USD 88.2 billion to USD 45 billion in the current fiscal.
