Don’t carry large amount money: Election Commissioner’s advice to public

Election Rules and regulations are in force. Hence, The Chennai Election Commission office has advised public not to carry large sums of money as it can be seized by the Flying Squad.
Flying Squad
Due to the oncoming parliamentary elections, flying squads have been formed in each of the 16 Assembly constituencies in Chennai City. This would function all 24 hours of the day on rotation basis. The flying squad would be monitoring illegal smuggling, excess election campaign expenditure, bribes and sops or cash given by the campaigners, and alcoholic drinks.
These offences can be booked under IPC 171 and people’s representative law section 123 of 1951. Action will be taken..
People should not carry large sums of mney in person. If absolutely necessary, they should carry the required evidences and certificates pertaining to the large amount.
