Take a brisk walk to fight risk of sedentary lifestyle

For those of you who keep spending your day sitting for a long time, you may have to make a shift in your schedule by including some time for brisk walk, at least an hour.
 
According to analysis by scientists, at least an hour or 75 minutes of walk is required in order to undo the damage one causes to self by sitting for about 8 hours a day. The danger of sedentary lifestyle without exercise and with long hours of sitting is as harmful as smoking or obesity.

Furthermore, the risk involved in sitting for long hours before the TV for more than 5 hours in a day is very high such that even long hours of exercising cannot compensate its dangerous effects. Ulf Ekelund of Norwegian school of sports science in Norway, a study author said that the level of importance for physical activity such was a walk during lunch hour or a morning jog or run or cycling cannot be stressed.
 
The fact that it is unhealthy to sit for long hours, be it at home or at work, is long said. According to studies done earlier, prolonged sitting may lead to increase in heart disease, likeliness of cancer, and early death.

This new research involved studying about 13 papers about the long hours people spend sitting, their level of physical activities, and habits of watching TV. Most of these studies were made on those aged above 45. The study was done in countries including Western Europe, Australia and the US.
 
Those who sit for more than 8 hours a day and also get indulged in physical activity for about 60 to 75 minutes were able to erase off the risk of death. However, this level of physical activity is also insufficient for fighting hazards caused by 5 hours of watching TV every day.
