These are the various health problems caused due to intake of whole wheat

The bread we consume is made by using whole wheat flour and the whole wheat flour is made by grinding the whole grain of wheat. This whole wheat is considered very healthy for us and is superb source of fibre. The presence of many nutrients in whole wheat makes it superb for our health and many of us consume whole wheat regularly. Not many are aware that whole wheat has got gluten in it and this gluten is an issue for the gluten intolerance people.

Nutritional value of whole wheat:

It is worthy to mention here that whole wheat contains 340 calories, 10.7 gms fibre plus 72 grams of carbohydrates, 13.2 grams of proteins, 2.5 gms fats, 0.4grams sugar, 0,07 grams omega-3 fatty acids. The whole wheat also has 11 percent of water content in them.

These are the different health issues we get by consuming whole wheat.

Triggers blood sugar levels in us:

We all know white bread is made using refined grains. It is said that products made by refined grains like white bread could trigger the blood sugar levels in us. This could increase the risk of getting diabetes, obesity or cardiovascular diseases. The reason for triggering of blood sugar levels is white bread gets digested quickly. Whole grains having more fibre in them are supposed to cause slow rise in blood sugar levels in us but it works oppositely. The fine particles in whole grains increase the blood sugar levels.

Gluten related allergies:

It is well known that gluten is a form of protein found in wheat etc and it provides elasticity to wheat dough. There are many people who suffer from gluten intolerance and when they consume gluten rich foods then they would get issues like diarrhoea, abdominal pain etc in them due to allergy. Similarly people with celiac disease would also face problems in digestion of foods having gluten. Hence they must avoid whole wheat foods.

Mineral absorption gets reduced:

This is also one issue related to intake of whole wheat etc. It is worthy to note that plant seeds have substance called as phytic acid and it has the ability to absorb crucial minerals by the body. The studies have shown that wheat fibre could trigger vitamin D deficiency by burning vitamin D stored by the body. When compared to refined wheat, whole wheat has high amounts of phytic acid. This could make the absorption of minerals like calcium, iron, zinc etc reduced and difficult.

Increase in small, dense LDL cholesterol in us:

The studies have shown that intake of whole wheat could lead to increase in small, dense LDL cholesterol in us. This increase in LDL or bad cholesterol could lead to many heart diseases etc in us.  There are different types of bad cholesterol based on the size of the molecules and these are pattern A and pattern B. It is said that those persons with high levels of pattern B cholesterol or small dense LDL particles are at high risk of getting heart diseases in them.

Associated with brain diseases:

It is shocking to know that intake of whole wheat could lead to many brain diseases. Cerebellar ataxia is a motor disturbance caused due to lesions present in cerebellum and gluten ataxiaia is one form of this cerebellar ataxia. Gluten ataxia could be worsened or caused by the intake of gluten. It must be noted that Schizophrenia is a brain disease and intake of gluten could lead to this issue. Studies have shown that when gluten free food is consumed then there was betterment in schizophrenia. Other brain diseases like autism and epilepsy etc are also associated with gluten sensitivity.
