Ramadan fasting starts today (17th May)

The Chief Gaji of the Tamil Nadu state government has announced that the sacred fasting of the Ramadan period is commencing today (Thursday, 17th May).
One of the main religious practices/observations of the Muslims, Ramadan, commences today. The official announcement regarding this was made by the Chief Gaji of the Tamil Nadu government Mohammad Salaudin Ayubi yesterday.
As the crescent of the Ramadan month appeared in several places, the announcement mentions that the fasting commences today (Thursday, 17th May).
