The reconstruction work of old government quarters in 17 locations in TN would start soon

On Monday, 11th June 2018, the deputy chief minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. O. Paneerselvam attracted the attention of many in the assembly. He announced that the state government would demolish government employees` rental quarters in 17 locations in state that are not in good shape. He later spoke about the reconstruction work of these rental quarters that would be done by the state government.

In the year 2014, the state government had issued notices to the occupants of the quarters that were in bad shape and that needed reconstructions. Many did not take the notice seriously and did not vacate their rental quarters. It is now revealed that the government would take the necessary steps to vacate them.

The deputy chief minister later highlighted that government would be blamed if anything wrong takes place. He stated that reconstruction has started in four of the sites after demolishing the damaged buildings. Likewise the remaining would also be reconstructed soon. Mr. O. Paneerselvam later hinted that adequate arrangements have been made so that all the occupants would get allotments in the new facilities.

He also spoke about how allotments were made in the newly constructed quarters and 67 out of total 587 occupants would be benefited now. These occupants have vacated from the four above mentioned quarters that were demolished and being rebuilt.
