Health issues of consuming excess brinjal or eggplant

Many of us might not know what an ‘Eggplant’ is but would be familiar with word ‘Brinjal’ isn’t it!!

It must be noted that brinjal or eggplant is a species belonging to nightshade family ‘Solanaceae’. Used in cooking for making many cuisines, the spongy absorbent fruit of the brinjal plant is often used. Though brinjal is a native of India, it is grown in other parts of the world now as it has got vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, dietary fibres etc in it. We all know that intake of brinjal could provide us many health benefits like providing us many nutrients, reduces the risk of heart diseases, help in the control of blood sugars etc.

Eating excess brinjal could cause many health issues also.

Menstruation gets stimulated:

One important reason why pregnant woman must avoid intake of excess brinjal is it could stimulate menstruation in them. This might result in further health complications in them. It is said that abortion could take place by the intake of brinjal by pregnant women.

Causes acidic problems:

The point is excess consumption of egg plant or brinjal could sometimes create acidic issues in those women who are expecting their babies. So it is better to avoid eating brinjals.

Could create allergies in us:

Not many know that intake of more brinjal could also lead to many allergies in us. Allergies such as throat swelling, nausea, itchiness, irritations etc could be caused. It is said that we could take some antihistamines if we get allergy by consuming brinjal. But it is better to avoid eating brinjal altogether to prevent ourselves from the allergies.

Kidney stones formation:

Most of us would be surprised to know that intake of excess brinjals could lead to the formation of kidney stones in us. This is mainly due to the presence of oxalates in brinjals.

Does not go well with antidepressant medicines:

Depression is highly common these days. Be careful when you take brinjal if you are already taking some antidepressant as prescribed by the doctor. It is said that excess of brinjal intake could prevent the working efficiency of the antidepressants.
