From March 2020 till now, the Coronavirus pandemic has taken the world by storm. The lives of many people have come to standstill due to this deadly infection. The second wave is creating many issues now.
As per Dr. Kurunjinathan, head of psychiatry department at MIOT hospitals, Chennai, the best way to stay healthy both mentally as well as emotionally is to look at the positive things that life has given. He explained how time spent with the family and opportunity to catch up with what people have been putting aside could be superb and healing.
It is learnt that in the Wellness series webinar on emotional well being during Covid-19 pandemic he pointed out that the people must have a daily structured routine and maintain it for their emotional well being. He wanted the women to be assertive and give themselves more time rather than thinking about others. Truth is that they should delegate work including children. Limiting the use of gadgets for the kids is very important as the gadgets could make a kid addictive. Encouragement must be given to kids to read books and play board games instead of gadgets.
Emotional health could be maintained by being confident and by sleeping well. Endorphins would be secreted and it would make us happy if we sleep for 7 to 8 hours and do some physical activity for atleast 20 minutes. Psychiatric issues could lead to people getting affected by Covid-19 infection. It is said that 20% who got this infection had psychiatric problems in them.
