Vaccination for Covid-19 has been going on in full swing now in Chennai and in TN!!
iPeople with co-morbid conditions like blood pressure, diabetes, kidney ailments etc have got some fear regarding taking Covid-19 vaccine shots. The news now is that the health experts believe that these persons with co-morbid conditions must take the vaccination as soon as possible after getting their doubts clarified with a doctor.
Persons who have undergone valve replacement or other major surgery and are consuming anticoagulants or those under immunosuppression therapy need to take the advice of the doctors on pausing the medicines during vaccination.
According to Mr. Anandha Kumar, nodal officer, Government Omandurar Medical College in Chennai expressed his thoughts. He spoke about how while taking vaccination for Coivid-19 the diabetic patients must make sure that their HbA1C or glycated haemoglobin in sugar levels is under control. Fact is that immunity is unlikely to develop in those with high levels of diabetes.
Complications might arise in those persons who take vaccinations inspite of having high blood pressure of BP in them. The persons with co-morbid conditions must take their medicines and make sure that their parameters are well under the control before taking vaccination for Covid-19 infection. There are many who would have undergone bypass surgery for their heart issue and these persons must consult their cardiologists before getting vaccination shots.
Mr. Anandha Kumar later pointed out that if the parameters are not under normal range then they must take medicines with the guidance of a doctor. It must be taken into note that persons above the age of 60 and above the age of 45 with com-morbid conditions must take their vaccination at the hospitals. These persons must be monitored during pre as well as in the post vaccination periods. Public health centres could be used by those above 18 years of age to get vaccinations.
Public health expert Dr. K. Kolandaswamy hinted that those with fever or with severe conditions must avoid vaccinations. He added that pregnant women could get vaccinated after 16 weeks if they show interest to get vaccinated. Finally, he spoke about how those with co-morbid conditions must be given priority first. Point is that those who had undergone surgeries, dialysis or with chronic kidney disease etc must take their second dose within a month as they would have low immunity. The reason for that is then only these persons would develop better immunity levels in them.
