It is now revealed that in all the 15 zones belonging to GCC the growth rate of new or fresh Cocid-19 cases have come down. It is well known that due to the strict total lockdown the daily cases are also coming down now in Chennai.
In the last 7 days till Sunday, the average growth rate of fresh Coronavirus cases was at minus 8.2%. This was according to data from the Chennai Corporation. It must be taken into note that Ambattur has now got the lowest growth rate of new cases at minus 13.8%. In this Ambattur zone there are many industries and the reduction in the growth rate of new cases here indicates a positive sign. It must not be forgotten that more than 5000 active cases were reported from Ambattur zone in the peak period of the infection.
Growth rate of fresh Covid-19 cases below the Chennai city average has also been registered in various other GCC zones like Tiruvottriryur minus 9.9%, Teynampet minus 9.6%, Adyar minus 8.9%, Anna Nagar minus 8.7% and Thiru Vi- Ka Nagar minus 8.7% etc. On 16th of May 2021, Chennai had a positive growth rate of 1.3% and on 27th of March the growth rate was 7.9%.
It is worthy to note that now zones like Perungudi and Royapuram have got the highest growth rate of new cases at minus 5 and minus 5.6% respectively. Zones like Alandur and Manali have growth rates of minus 6.1% and minus 6.4% respectively. Growth rates of minus 7.1%, minus 7.3% and minus 7.3% were reported from zones like Tondiarpet, Sholinganallur and Kodambakkam respectively.
Information collected is that GCC zones like Valarasarawakkam and Madhavaram have got a growth rate of minus 8.1% that is close to Chennai city growth rate. As of Tuesday morning, the number of active Coronavirus cases has decreased in Chennai and it stood at 33922. More than 3000 active cases have been reported from zones such as Ambattur, Anna Nagar, Kodambakkam and Adyar etc. In Chennai, the TPR has come down to 8.4%.
